Is Mexico Safe?

Is Mexico Safe

When people are considering what we (Cielito Lindo and Rancho Los Labradores) have to offer, each person has their unique concerns. But the question that comes up more frequently is, “Is Mexico actually safe, we here so much in the news?” The short answer is yes, but let’s go a little further with that.

Despite the media headlines painting Mexico as a place of crime and drug violence in the past few years, travelers shouldn’t allow that to stop them from experiencing one of the most colorful and amazing cultures in the world, and the cities have plenty of that.

Common Sense

Using your common sense, being aware of your surroundings, keeping your valuables out of sight, and taking a few precautions while exploring the cities means your Mexican trip will be a safe and fun one. This is the same advice anyone should heed when traveling in Europe or any big city in the US.

In recent times, a quarter of all homicides in Mexico occurred in just five cities: Tijuana, Ciudad Juárez, Cancún, Acapulco, and Culiacán. And while homicide rates have gone up recently, it is almost exclusively gang violence primarily directed at other gangs. For a sense of scale, more Americans are murdered in Oakland, California, than in all of Mexico, year over year.

There are many Web reports/articles that you can reference while conducting your own research.
